Invited lecturer prof. N. Casagli held a lecture
On January 24, 2020, Professor Nicola Casagli from the University of Florence held a lecture entitled “Application of landslide science in practice: case studies from Italy” at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering in Zagreb, as part of the opening kick-off meeting of the Croatian Science Foundation’s project LandSlidePlan.
Professor Nicola Casagli is a Full Professor in the Department of Geosciences at the University of Florence in Italy. He holds a master’s degree in engineering rock mechanics from Imperial College London and a doctorate in engineering geology from Ferrari University in Italy. As part of scientific research, he deals with geohazards, slope instabilities, landslide monitoring, engineering geological characterization and modeling. From 2002 to 2008 he was Head of the Department of Geosciences at the University of Florence in Italy, and from 2009 to 2012 he was a member of the Senate of the University of Florence. He is the head of the State Center for Hydrogeological Hazards of the State Administration for Civil Protection of Italy. Since 2017, he has been the Vice President of the International Landslide Consortium for Europe, and since 2020 he is the President of the International Landslide Consortium. He is a member of the State Committee for Prediction and Prevention of High Risks within the State Administration for Civil Protection of Italy. He is the author of more than 250 scientific papers in scientific journals, books and conference proceedings.
