Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering of the University of Zagreb is a scientific and educational institution that educates engineers of Geological Engineering in undergraduate and graduate study programs, as well as scientists in postgraduate studies. Within the program of hydrogeology and engineering geology, education on landslides is conducted at the study of geological engineering. Landslide classes are designed and held by scientists and scholars who are also involved in landslide research, and operate within the Department of Engineering Geology at the Department of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology. Applied landslide research is continuously carried out within their scientific and professional activities related to developing landslide maps, geotechnical landslide research, instrumental landslide monitoring, hazard assessment and landslide risk. Scientists from this Department are members of the Croatian Landslides Group and the International Consortium on Landslides. Based on the results of landslide research, they were declared the World Center of Excellence in Landslide Risk Reduction by ICL for the period 2014-2017, 2017-2020 and 2020-2023.
Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Rijeka
Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Rijeka is a scientific and educational institution that educates civil engineers in professional, undergraduate and graduate studies, as well as scientists in postgraduate studies. One of the directions of the graduate study is the program of geotechnics, within which education in the field of landslides is conducted within several courses. Courses in geotechnics are held by scientists from the Department of Geotechnics within the Department of Hydrotechnics and Geotechnics. Applied landslide research is continuously carried out within their scientific and professional activities related to geotechnical research of landslides, research of landslide mechanisms, physical and numerical modeling of landslides, laboratory testing of landslide materials, all the way to designing landslide mitigation and rehabilitation measures. Scientists from the Department of Geotechnics are members of the Croatian Landslides Group and the International Consortium on Landslides.
