Written guidelines for preparation and implementation of landslide susceptibility maps in land use planning

All of the most important results of the applied science research will be published in written guidelines for the end users of landslide susceptibility maps, in which a proposal plan for maps implementation in land use planning and management of the Republic of Croatia will we suggested, as well as map examples and map creating methodology. Published written guidelines can be found here.

Project research workshops

1st project research workshop

On the 1st project research workshop with an invited lecturer, knowledge improving of the researchers will be done. Knowledge regarding landslide susceptibility analysis and three main approaches: bivariate, multivariate and machine learning methods; knowledge transfer and invited lecture. More information about this event can be found here.

2nd project research workshop

On the 2nd project research workshop with an invited lecturer, criteria of landslide susceptibility zoning for land use planning will be defined. The defined criteria are based on discussion with scientists from Slovenia and Italy, and with end user from national, regional and local authorities in Croatia. More information about this event can be found here.

Optimal digital elevation model (DEM) for visual identification and mapping of landslides in three pilot areas

Optimal LiDAR DEMs will be chosen based on the quality of topographic morphology of the landslides in three representatives pilot areas in Croatia. Quantitative definition of quality will be based upon statistical analyses.

Preparation of input data for landslide susceptibility spatial analyses for three representative pilot areas

Prepared input data for include all factor maps used for three data-driven approaches on susceptibility analysis, based on six different mapping units and approximately 14 morphological, geological and hydrological factors and land cover conditions for three pilot areas. More on input data can be read in the journal paper Sinčić et al. (2022).

Preparation and verification of landslide susceptibility maps for three representative pilot areas in Croatia

Preparation of more than 200 landslide susceptibility maps per pilot area will be done for further verification of susceptibility modelling. With these analyses the aim is to determine the reliability of all applied methods, so scientifically the most reliable landslide susceptibility map for each of the three representative pilot areas in Croatia can be determined.

Landslide susceptibility maps applicable in land use planning of Croatia

Landslide susceptibility maps created according to the needs of certain end user will be derived by classification of reliable landslide susceptibility maps for land use planning in Croatia.

Verification and implemenation of landslide susceptibility maps regarding to land use planning and management in Croatia

Verification and implementation includes information analyses on landslide susceptibility regarding spatial data, i.e., comparing susceptibility zoning with land use and cadastral data. For every pilot area individually, possibilities of landslide susceptibility implementation will be shown, as well as information interpretation for different needs of the Croatia land use planning.
